The Health-EU portal is aimed at people who wish to be aware of issues affecting their health and to all those who want to update the policies and decisions taken at European, national and international levels.

The portal is also an important source of information for health workers, government, policy makers and stakeholders.

Adhering to accessibility standards recognized internationally, can be accessed by all, including elderly and disabled.  It also enables experts to have access to statistics on public health.

The portal was created under the Community Public Health 2003-2008 with the intent to promote the involvement of individual citizens, as
well as institutions, associations, organizations and institutions working in the field of health, facilitating consultation and participation. Puts particular emphasis on the Law of the European population to obtain simple, clear and scientifically based on measures to protect health and prevent disease.

One of the main objectives of the portal is to get the message that people are responsible for the improvement of their health. Increased
awareness of activities and programs in the field of public health should encourage wider participation and greater support from the population.

Access to information is possible through a simple thematic structure, with various topics relating to people and their environment.
Each topic leads to the sub connected to it (for example, My way of life leads to Food), which present a complete set of information and links to policies and activities of the European Union.

National policies are in the section reserved to the States.  In another section collected information on initiatives undertaken by European non-governmental organizations and international organizations. Through some deep link connects you directly to the search.

The sections devoted to news, to major events in Europe and press releases give the opportunity to become aware of key decisions and
events in the field of health at national, transnational and international.

The portal also provides the legislative acts adopted by the Community institutions, and publications to publicize the objectives of the Europe
